![]() ![]() For more than 10 years, Teck have been one of the top customers in the world for Cat large dozers. This innovation, along with a long history of others, enabled Cat large dozers to set the standards for efficiency, productivity and durability.’ĭenise Johnson, Caterpillar group president responsible for Resource Industries, handed the keys of the 40,000th large dozer to Louis DeLuca, Teck director of supply management, during the ceremony. An optional Auto Ripper Control monitors and automatically adjusts engine speed and ripper depth to minimize track slip.Earlier this month, representatives from Caterpillar Inc., Finning Canada and Teck Resources Ltd gathered in East Peoria, Illinois, to celebrate the milestone of the 40,000th Cat large dozer rolling off the production line.Ĭore to Caterpillar’s global identity, the current Cat large dozer line includes the D9, D10 and D11 models.Ĭommenting on the importance to Caterpillar of the 40,000th large dozer milestone, Greg Hepler, product manager for large dozers, said: ‘Caterpillar transformed the track-type tractor with the introduction of the suspended undercarriage with elevated drive sprocket. New cab anchor points for tie-off advance safety during service and maintenance.Ĭaterpillar offers a range of standard and optional technologies for the dozer: Standard Automated Blade Assist makes use of preset blade pitch position to increase efficiency while reducing operator workload Enhanced Auto Shift automatically selects the optimal gear and engine speed based on powertrain load and desired ground speed.Īlso, available AutoCarry automatically changes blade position to keep track slip at a minimum to optimize productivity when pushing a load. The dynamic fluid monitoring system displays fluid levels and warns the operator of low-fluid conditions. The new operator station features high-definition touchscreen displays with scalable electronic architecture. Delayed egress lighting allows the operator to exit an illuminated dozer, while access lighting is controlled from either the cab or ground-level electrical center. ![]() The cab door can now be mounted for either left- or right-side opening. Standard features built into the D11 offer improved access to the operator compartment. Improved reversing fan function delivers greater reverse airflow for radiator clean out. A single-plane cooling system is designed to better dissipate heat, and it provides easier core clean out. The Cat C32 engine delivers power ratings of 850 horsepower forward and 955 horsepower in reverse. There are also replaceable bearings on the ripper and blade pin boreholes, and new push arm trunnion bearing inserts. Redesigned structures and components include a larger equalizer bar, which features an improved bearing design to increase reliability. When combined with the new, high-horsepower reverse function, the machine delivers 4 to 8 percent greater productivity while burning less fuel, Cat says. The stator clutch torque divider provides improved drivetrain efficiency. The variable hydraulic pumps adjust output to meet demand, which is meant to save energy, reduce heat generation, and extend component life. ![]() The load-sensing hydraulics and new drivetrain components deliver up to 8 percent fuel efficiency gains, according to the company. The D11 dozer features new load-sensing hydraulics, high-horsepower reverse, and the latest Cat technology-it is also engineered to be rebuilt multiple times, with a redesigned main frame.
